Nichols makes the grade
Over the years Oregon State has been very welcoming to walk-on's, giving them ample opportunity to earn their keep. Most recently, Damola Adeniji excelled in his final year and earned a scholarship after being a walk-on for his entire career.
While the Beavers have had to work hard to find some hidden gems, senior wide out Aaron Nichols turned the tables and says he had heard about the success of former walk-on's and figured he'd offer up his services, making the job easier for the coaching staff.
"I came in as a walk-on from Hawaii, out of Kamehameha High School," Nichols continued. "This program has had a history of walk-on's earning scholarships. It's kind of the thing that attracted me here. Mike Hass is a big name, Alexis Serna was another walk-on."
Both Serna and Hass walked on and earned the Groza and Biletnikoff Award respectively as the nation's best kicker and receiver.
