Watson ready for sophomore season
After a redshirt season in 2008, Louis Watson finally had his opportunity to showcase his talents in Mississippi State's secondary last year.
Now the 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback is hoping to expand his game even more as a sophomore.
"I had to get used to the speed of the game and it was a lot of fun year last year," Watson said. "I just hope I get some more playing time this year. I'm going to work my butt off and we'll see what happens after camp."
Watson appeared in nine games in 2009 and earned one start against Georgia Tech. He finished the year with four tackles.
The Mobile, Ala., native spent his summer working out with strength coach Matt Balis to get himself ready for the 2010 season. He feels that Balis' program will help the entire team reach their goals.
"I don't think you can ever get used to Coach Balis' workouts," Watson said. "He works us hard and prepared us for camp. I think we are all going to have a good camp because of him."
The Bulldogs began fall camp on Tuesday and it was a particularly good day for Watson. He picked off Tyler Russell inside the Palmeiro Center and returned it back for a touchdown during scrimmage portion of practice.
