Crowley football coach Tommy Tate heard the whispers but had never actually seen Davante Bourque play.

Bourque actually established quite a reputation playing football for Crowley Middle School before going on to high school in nearby Gueydan where he was twice named to the Class 1A All-State team, including last year's offensive MVP.
