When A.J. Green really starts considering whether he should leave Georgia after this year to apply for the NFL Draft, does mother really know best?
Wednesday, Green told reporters that his mother is pushing for him to get his degree, which he is on track to receive in December of 2011.
The question is, will Green be nearing the end of his rookie year with some fortunate NFL team?
"She really wants me to get that stuff done," Green said. "I got to do what she wants to make her happy."
But before anybody get too excited, Green's mother has also told him she will support whatever decision he makes.
"She wants me to get it, but she said she wants me to do whatever makes me happy, she's behind me," Green said. "But she would love for me to have my degree."
Green, who is projected by ESPN's Mel Kiper to be a Top 10 pick in April's draft, is coming off a career day against Auburn in which he caught nine passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns in Georgia's 49-31 loss.
A potential NFL lockout will also play a role in his decision.
"That's going to play a big part in my decision," Green said. "With all the talk about lockouts, they don't know what they are going to do, if they're going to play half a season or whatever."
