Jones starts recruiting process high on SU
The Syracuse Orange are looking to lock down New York and they already have one prospect on board from the state for 2012. One other prospect who is high on Syracuse right now is Jarron Jones and he recently visited Syracuse
"That trip was pretty good. It was nice I enjoyed it," Jones said. "That was not my first trip to Syracuse I have been to Syracuse a lot. I just never saw the whole campus."
Despite this trip not being his first to Syracuse there were a few items that stuck out.
"The football facilities caught me by surprise. I always just thought it was the Dome. I never knew they had another set of facilities on the other side of campus. I also liked how they have the dorms right by the athletic campus."
Besides the campus there were also a few other items that really opened the eyes of the Empire State product
"I really liked meeting with all of the coaches and they all wanted to shake my hand and meet me. I also liked the idea of playing in the Dome stuck out to me. When we were there it was only half full and it was loud. I know playing in there when the football team is playing it will be even louder and I like that."
An offer was not extended at the Junior Day, but it did come days later and the prospect was excited about it.
"They came to the school and offered me. The Syracuse offer is high on my list even though I really haven't made a list, but I know that they are going to be there. They are a possibility," Jones stated. "They are some place that I would like to go. They are close to home it is only an hour away. Syracuse is in the running right now I have an interest in Syracuse."
Some schools want Jones to play offensive tackle, but at Syracuse it is looking like they want him on defense. For Jones the position does not matter that much, but he does favor one.
"I think Syracuse wants me to play defense. I don't really mind, but I do like defense better. I never give up on plays I can make down field tackles, get interceptions, and force players to do things so my teammates can make plays."
The last newest 2012 Orange commitment was recruited by Dan Conley and for Jones he has Tyrone Wheatley.
"I am being recruited by Coach Tyrone Wheatley, he is a really good guy and we have a good relationship so far. Both Coach Wheatley and Coach Marrone are down to earth guys and we can talk about anything."
Syracuse University is not the only school to offer Jones early and as of now he has six other offers.
"I have offers from Syracuse, Buffalo, North Carolina, Boston College, Penn State, Rutgers, and Connecticut."
