Declouet likes what he sees of A&M
Like several of his other teammates from Patterson (La.) High School, wide receiver Jaydrick Declouet was a first-team All-State selection for Division 3A this past season.
Like a few of those teammates, Declouet made his way west to College Station for Texas A&M's Jan. 29 junior day. And, like those teammates, he came away highly impressed.
"It was cool. I loved it there," he said. "I really enjoyed the whole thing."
The 5 foot, 10 inch, 170-lb. Declouet, who runs a 4.44 40 yard dash, said he was impressed by the tour of the campus and the A&M facilities and had the chance to talk to members of the Aggie coaching staff.
"It was fun talking to the coaches; they seem really cool," he said. "I got to talk to coach James Turner and (wide receivers coach Troy Walters). They told me what they were looking for in a receiver."
The Aggies told Declouet that they would probably look to use him as a slot receiver, but were still looking into their options before deciding on who to offer.
"I'd really like it if they did," he said.
Declouet said he's been receiving mail and phone calls from a number of schools across the country, but at this point, three schools stand out as his favorites.
"It's Texas A&M, Nebraska and Arkansas," he said.
