Memphis (Tenn.) Wooddale weakside defensive end Carl Mitchell was 6-foot-4, 225 pounds at the start of the 2010 football season. Seven months later, the junior is now 6-6, 238 and, as he points out, "still growing."

For Mitchell, that frame is a great asset on the field.

"The taller the better," he said. "[The height] helps me get the blocked balls. That's what I do, block balls. Every game [last season] I think I had at least four blocks."
