Blaylock twins check out Ole Miss on college tour
Daron Blaylock visited Ole Miss unofficially on April 2.
The Rebels made quite an impression.
That's good news for Ole Miss, as the Rebels appear to be quite interested in both the 6-foot, 210-pound safety from Marietta (Walton), Ga., and his twin brother and fellow collegiate safety prospect, Zack Blaylock.
"What stood out at Ole Miss was the coaches," Daron Blaylock said. "I really liked them. They're really nice. The whole campus at Ole Miss was awesome."
The Blaylocks have visited Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Kentucky this spring. They're planning to take another trip this weekend and will likely continue their tour this summer. They both sport offers from Kentucky and Louisville.
Daron Blaylock said Wednesday Kentucky, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt stand out for him, and while the Rebels and Commodores haven't offered, Blaylock is optimistic.
"They haven't told me anything offer wise, but they seemed very interested," Daron Blaylock said.
Zack Blaylock, meanwhile, said he is "still pretty open," but he conceded Kentucky might be a bit of a leader at this point.
As for his trip to Oxford, Zack Blaylock said: "I liked it a lot. Coach (Houston) Nutt was hilarious. We met our recruiting coach and I liked him (defensive line coach Terry Price) a lot.
They told us they're really interested in us but they didn't say anything about offers."
Zack Blaylock said the brother would like to go to the same school, "but we're not a package," a sentiment Daron Blaylock repeated.
The Blaylocks' father, Mookie Blaylock, starred as a guard at Oklahoma before embarking on a 13-year NBA career with the New Jersey Nets, Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors.
"Honestly, it's a conversation starter," Zack Blaylock said of the effect his father's celebrity has had on the recruiting process. "That's about it. I don't know that there are any benefits."
