Kornbrath talks commitment
West Virginia punter Connor Kornbrath did not plan to commit so early, but he also did not know that his first offer would come from the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-6, 208-pound Kornbrath quickly accepted a scholarship from the Iowa coaching staff yesterday and is excited to be a Hawkeye. He talks in-depth about his decision and much more.
Q: Can you take me through yesterday and finding out about the Iowa offer and committing?
KORNBRATH: Well, I talked to Coach Erb, their special teams coach, about three days ago and he said that I was No. 1 to get the scholarship, but the head coach wasn't ready to do it just yet. He said just to call him in about a week and stay in touch. Then yesterday I got an e-mail from him saying to call him whenever I can. When I called him, he said I was getting an offer to Iowa.
