Voluntary 7-on-7 July 18th recap
The Louisiana Tech football team participated in another of its voluntary 7-on-7 scrimmages on Monday night. Several points of interests were seen as the team begins gelling more and more.
Monday evening was a moment where a couple of freshman really stood out. First, Bryson Abraham made two very nice plays on bubble screens to Quinton Patton when he knocked the ball free. Abraham will be wearing number 15 this fall.
Second, was quarterback Nick Isham who is becoming more and more comfortable in the offense. It is truly remarkable that he has been in Ruston only a week and has as much comfort in the offense already. Whether the full offense is being run is unknown but no matter what he looks incredibly comfortable. His accuracy was better Monday and was rarely under throwing his receivers. He routinely zipped a ball into tight coverage with great accuracy. One of the biggest pluses of Isham is he makes his reads quickly. Additionally, Isham will be wearing number 11 this fall.
The only other quarterback to throw Monday was Colby Cameron. Cameron also had a good evening as he seems to be throwing his intermediate and deep throws with more accuracy. His chemistry with his receivers is obvious. Cameron completed a nice touchdown to Myles White who got behind the coverage on the left side.
The Tech defense really does appear to be playing better and better each scrimmage. Blasher Saintvil really is playing some of the best football out of any of the cornerbacks right now for Tech.
Le'Vander Liggins was playing cornerback Monday and not any receiver. It will be interesting to see if he plays receiver again. He may play a little receiver at the beginning of fall camp, but due to depth at corner he very well may stay there.
The quarterback race already seems to be a two man race, once the other 3 quarterbacks are healthy it will be interesting to see where they fit in.
