Ferguson's best year yet?
Sean Ferguson started his first game as a true freshman back in 2008.
Four years later a lot has changed at Mississippi State but Ferguson is still starting and still wreaking havoc on quarterbacks.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder has played in 43 career games for the Bulldogs and earned 22 starts including six this season. Ferguson has recorded 79 career tackles including 14.5 stops for loss and two sacks.
"I've been here for four years and came in here under Coach (Sylvester) Croom," Ferguson said. "After he left the program just seemed to get better and better every year, even this year. Even with our few losses I still see an increase in the program."
Ferguson has been mentoring some of MSU's younger defensive ends this season like Preston Smith, John Harris, Corvell Harrison-Gay and Kaleb Eulls. He is trying to set a good example for them with his play on the field.
"One of my big things was that I've never been a big vocal type of guy," Ferguson said. "I've just wanted to lead by example."
Ferguson is on pace for his best year yet despite missing one game due to injury. He has made 19 tackles (six shy of his 2009 total) with three tackles for loss and a sack.
