Brown has been in the books
Frederick Brown has been in the books since his senior season ended on the gridiron - and not just textbooks either.
Brown has been checking out the programs sent to him by Mississippi State to prepare him for his football future in Starkville.
"I've got two books - one full of plays and another one full of workouts, running and conditioning," Brown said. "It's a little bit more complicated and a little bit more that you have to do. You have to run deeper and more precise routes. I can understand everything. I catch on quite well. I'll just have to get used to running (the plays) over and over again."
The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has been training from Matt Balis' program doing speed drills, running routes, catching balls and the weight room as well.
Brown will have to continue his regimen throughout the spring because he will be enrolling in June and facing Balis firsthand then. The early enrollment will allow Brown to adjust to daily college life before the hassles of fall camp begin.
"It will help me," Brown said. "I'll get to go to school and be a student-athlete and go to class before I go to practice. That will help me get accustomed to going to class before I go to practice and I can adapt to everything."
Of course the three-star prospect will be able to run routes with quarterbacks Tyler Russell and Dak Prescott over the summer months as well.
