Razorbacks ready for spring
The team will practice Wednesday and Thursday and then meet Friday morning before heading out to spring break. The coaches want to make sure they attend the final day of practices.
Arkansas will open practices to the public on March 14, 15 and 30 and April 6, 13, and 21. The last four dates will be scrimmages.
Senior Ross Rasner will continue play safety and will be the team's nickel back, which is essentially the same as the 'Jack' position from last year but has been renamed the 'Star' position under new defensive coordinator Paul Haynes.
Due to some alterations in scheme, the Hogs will have two inside linebackers. There won't be a true Mike linebacker or a true Will linebacker. It is anticipated that 70 percent of the time the team will be in a nickel package and 30 percent in a base 4-3.
Redshirt freshman offensive tackle Austin Beck struggled in the offseason program a bit. He tweaked his knee a little and isn't 100 percent.
Haynes will work the safeties at both free and strong. He hopes to get four he feels he can put in the game at any time. Rasner and Eric Bennett will play both spots in the spring and then decide how they will do it in August. The same will be done with the cornerbacks...
