Defensive line has work ahead
West Virginia's defensive line obviously was facing some uphill challenges after an already thin unit lost its two most productive players, Bruce Irvin and Julian Miller, from a season ago to the NFL. But defensive line coach Erik Slaughter observed some promising things during spring ball and has his eyes set for the next step in the process.
"I'm happy and excited about where we can get to, but we still have a lot of work to do," he said highlighting the willingness to work the group displayed.
Most importantly that will be building depth along the line, which features only a handful of players with significant game experience. This summer and fall will be especially important for any incoming freshmen or younger players that want to make their way into the rotation.
