Finding a 2-deep: Young talks D-Line
Oklahoma State is now four practices deep into Fall Camp, with the last two adding shoulder pads to the mix. More pads equal more contact, and that's when defensive coordinator and d-line coach Bill Young can start to figure out just what he has to work with.
The Cowboys went for about two hours this morning in very warm and sunny conditions. There was no media availability, but OSU athletics' media relations talked to Young about his defensive line. The long-time coordinator was quick to name a true freshman - end Victor Irokansi - as a player who has really shown up so far this fall.
"He's just so quick off the football," Young said. "The strength coaches say nobody outworked him during the summer program and that's carried right over to the field."
On the interior, Young tabbed JUCO-transfer Calvin Barnett as noticeably improved from spring ball, both in on-field play and assignment knowledge. At the same time, he seemed to be calling out nose guards Anthony Rogers and Christian Littlehead.
The Cowboys will continue their one-a-day, mornings schedule the rest of the week before holding their first full scrimmage of the fall on Saturday evening.
