One player that's been closely watched by West Virginia fans is senior Josh Francis. An athletic specimen, the former junior college transfer struggled with Jeff Casteel's 3-3-5 scheme in his first year in a West Virginia uniform but became instantly excited when he got word that the Mountaineers were moving to a more traditional outfit.

"Last year I had like a million reads and like I said before you've got to put it in perspective. The 3-3-5 was a totally different defense, I'd never played in a 3-3-5 before," he said. "It took me a while to pick up the system because I was brand new to it."
