Muniz making his way back
In 2010 Mississippi State loaded up on offensive linemen.
Archie Muniz was one of those signees and appeared to be poised to compete for the starting job of left tackle as the season came to a close last year. But as the Bulldogs began their prep for the Music City Bowl, Muniz went down with a knee injury.
Through a vigorous offseason rehab, Muniz was able to recover enough to participate limitedly during spring practice and was back battling for the starting job as a sophomore.
"I came back fairly quick," Muniz said. "I started doing a lot of reps back in the spring. They weren't full contact in the spring but my biggest thing coming back from the injury was I had to go harder than what I was doing before. I had to gain all the weight back to get where I was before because I did lose a lot of weight. I had to get back to where I needed to be."
Another 2010 signee, Blaine Clausell, won the job at left tackle but Muniz must prepare each day to assume that role at any moment.
