Notebook: Surprises at kicker, problems at o-line
EAST LANSING - Kevin Muma and Jeremy Langford, two of the most improved players in the program, were rewarded with starting jobs on Monday, emerging from third-string status in the spring with strong August camps.
Head coach Mark Dantonio said during his weekly press conference that Muma had beaten out true freshman Michael Geiger for the kicking job.
And Langford, who looked good in limited work in the spring game and followed up with good performances in August scrimmages, will get the start ahead of redshirt freshman Riley Bullough. Bullough is rebounding from a mid-August upper body injury and will get plenty of work, too, during Friday's season opener against Western Michigan (8 p.m, BTN).
