Decoding Dantonio: Any chance for Terry?
EAST LANSING - With Mark Dantonio refraining from naming a starting quarterback for Saturday's game against South Florida, some attention turned to the freshmen listed outside of the two deep.
At the weekly press conference on Tuesday, Michigan State listed senior Andrew Maxwell and sophomore Connor Cook as either/or choices at No. 1 and No. 2.
In failing to give Maxwell a strong endorsement, Dantonio indicated that all quarterbacks would be evaluated this week. But it's hard to know for sure. Dantonio was guarded with information, stating that he didn't want to speak at length about the "quarterback situation."
"Right now, I think the main focus is what we do internally with our quarterback situation," Dantonio said. "We are going to look at things as the week progresses and make some decisions at the end of the week."
He was asked if Maxwell is starting.
"I'm not going to talk about who's starting right now," Dantonio said.
