In the world of recruiting, the numbers often get caught up with one another. Is a bit of height really worth a tenth of a second in a 40-yard dash? Does a big bench press make up for lackluster film reels?
These decisions often determine a coaching staff's eventual success. However, sometimes you can find the complete package, even if the package was sent from roughly 1,000 miles from left field. No matter how much attention Travis Lewis may or may not have felt he deserved, even he can admit that his numbers at the recent Texas A&M Nike camp were nothing short of shocking.
On the day the San Antonio Lee product measured in the 6-foot-1 range, roughly 215-pounds and ran in the sub-4.4 second area of the 40-yard dash. To put those types of numbers in perspective, if Lewis were so inclined he could have simply made the drive home and waited for the offers to come funneling in.
Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, UTEP and Rice have shown interest.
