Corner brings back plenty of experience
HuskersIllustrated.com will close out our spring football coverage with a two-week position grade out that breaks down where Nebraska stands heading into summer conditioning and fall camp.
This spring, Nebraska returned both starters Zackary Bowman and Cortney Grixby at cornerback, which puts them in a very good position heading into next fall.
The only thing really holding this grade back from the A range is NU doesn't have very much experience behind Bowman and Grixby.
Both Bowman and Grixby had excellent springs and you are really starting to see them get more comfortable with defensive backs coach Phil Elmassian's system.
Last season Bowman struggled early with the concepts of the defense and he was also slowed greatly by a hamstring injury. It wasn't until the end of the season where we saw Bowman at full strength.
Junior Titus Brothers will leave spring football as the nickel corner, and once junior college transfer Andre Jones gets to campus, NU should have a solid top four at corner.
