Lagemann reels in Cal offer
For two years, Saratoga, Calif., wideout Alex Lagemann has been practicing for the Stanford Nike Combine at Palo Alto hosted by Student Sports and Rivals.
The big day came and went for the Bay Area standout but in the end, he accomplished exactly what he had hoped to do. Lagemann's 4.5 forty yard dash, along with years of preparation in the classroom and on the field, impressed one Pac-10 coach in particular.
That coach was none other than California's Jeff Teford, who called Lagemann afterwards to offer him a scholarship.
"I certainly wasn't expecting that phone call," the extremely personable Lagemann said. "Most of the time when coaches have called it's been a receivers coach or an offensive coordinator so I was kind of surprised when it was Coach Tedford. As a kid, I've loved Cal and Stanford football so that was really big to me. It honestly shocked me."
