Jones' experience a boon for Bulldogs
The Bulldogs will have a new face snapping the ball when their offense lines up during the 2006 season. In spite of having to break in a new center for the first time since 2003, Georgia head coach Mark Richt isn't too concerned thanks to the ability of senior Nick Jones, who's moving to center after playing mostly guard for the last two years.
Jones, a Bowdon native, has been singled out as the team's top offensive lineman by both Richt and offensive line coach Neil Callaway on multiple occasions since spring practice ended.
"It gives you confidence when the center knows what he is doing," Richt said. "He can make the calls and is able to make the blocks that that guy has to make."
