Will Petrino's new deal affect Simms?
Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino said he'd like his new 10-year, $25 million contract extension to send a message to high profile recruits about his passion for the future of the Cardinal program. Louisville's top quarterback recruit, Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) standout Matt Simms could be at the top of the list.
Simms, the son of former NFL great and Louisville native Phil Simms, is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound rising senior at Bosco.
Simms has scholarship offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Iowa, Louisville, North Carolina, Rutgers, South Florida, Arizona State and others.
