Bruin DBs - Part II
UCLA should also be very strong at the cornerback position. The Bruins return the playmaking junior cornerback Trey Brown. Brown has been a very solid corner for the Bruins during his UCLA career. He's not the tallest and not the fastest. but he somehow gets the job done.
When the Bruins first inserted Brown into the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman the defense became better because of his tackling ability. Brown is a very smart player who gets into the opponent's head. This is a very competitive and intelligent football player.
Penciled as the starter at the other corner is junior Rodney Van. Van had a solid spring and showed off the serious skills he displayed as a big time recruit out of Long Beach, Calif., Poly as a member of the class of '04.
It has been said about Van that he has NFL potential. Now this is the season for him to step up and live up to his promise. If Van does, he will be another reason why the Bruin defense will improve.
