Less than a month for Sherrod?
Now that the camp season has ended for arguably the top uncommitted prospect in the Magnolia State, Caledonia's Derek Sherrod is ready to weigh his options. He still plans to make a decision before opening day and time is winding down. He visited MSU over the weekend and went to Florida earlier this summer. Who is still in the picture and what will it come down to?
"I am still looking at the same five (Florida, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Miami, and Notre Dame)," he said. "I still plan to make my decision before the season starts. So far that's how I plan for it to be. Probably before the first game." Caledonia begins its season on Aug. 25.
While he has camped at MSU and Florida and has visited Ole Miss unofficially in the last several months, he has yet to see Miami or Notre Dame. Is an unofficial visit to either a possibility before he makes his decision?
"That's still an option that me and my parents might think about, but as of now it probably won't happen," he said. "I will just have to think off the top of my head what I already know about those other schools."
