Irish chasing Gators for Williamsí attention
Defensive tackle Ian Williams of Longwood, Fla., holds more than 30 scholarship offers but one program continues to top his short list of favorites.
"I definitely still have Florida still solid at the top and then it's Notre Dame, Auburn and Clemson," Williams said. "I was hoping to make my decision in late October or mid-November but if I'm forced to because other kids are committing, I might have to do it earlier."
Though the Gators are the early favorite to land the 6-foot-2, 294-pound athlete, several other teams including Notre Dame have made a strong recruiting push.
"I've been talking to coach (Charlie) Weis and coach (Bernie) Parmalee and the D-line coach a couple of times a week," he said. "They talk about what kind of defense they play and what they would want me to do if and when I come up there."
