UCLA has solid fourth practice
The guys must have been gearing themselves for Friday's practice, the first one in full pads because they had their best practice collectively as a unit on Thursday. There was something good to comment on both sides of the ball and the competition is intense.
From top-to-bottom this team has the most solid depth than a UCLA team has had for awhile. Once again coach Karl Dorrell was upbeat and even the media seemed to be a jovial mood as there was a little bit of good natured kidding and ribbing going on between Dorrell and members of the media.
Dorrell: "It was a good practice. You are going to have the ebbs and flows of practice when certain aspects of the team does well and the team gets a little frustrated in terms of the side of the ball.
"The offense came out and made a few plays today. The defense early on I thought they did a very nice job in our run drill. So those were all good signs where ebbs and flows on which side of the ball has the leg up on the other.
"We are making a lot of progress it was really nice to see that."
"It was another day that no one was dinged or hurt so we survived today and things are coming together."
"I thought we threw the ball well and I thought we ran the ball well in our team drills. I thought defensively early in our run drill did a really, really nice job, great effort running to the ball.
"I'm pleased with where we're at right now and we just need to continue to work. It was the fourth practice with 25 more so we have a long way to go, but I'm happy with where we're at."
