Why doesn't Florida State throw to the tight end more?
If you're a Seminole fan the odds are good that you've either said those words or heard them uttered by a fellow FSU faithful. Usually the coaching staff replies to that question by pointing out that they simply haven't had the right personnel to effectively use the tight end in the passing game, at least not on a consistent basis. If the first two weeks of preseason practice are any indication that won't be an acceptable answer any longer.
Whether it's been a scrimmage or the daily 11-on-11 passing drill, one of FSU's two freshmen tight ends, and sometimes both, has made at least one long reception in each of the last four practices. On Friday, it was Brandon Warren's turn. During the short red zone segment of 11-on-11's, the tight end from Alcoa, Tennessee ran a crisp route, got separation from the safety and reeled in 12-yard touchdown pass from Drew Weatherford.
