ASU still in contention for state's top prospects
Several months ago it appeared unlikely that Arizona State would even emerge even as a finalist for two of the top prospects in the state, Avondale Agua Fria defensive end Everson Griffen, and Phoenix Moon Valley offensive lineman Javario Burkes. Neither prospect was consistently listing the Sun Devils at the time and both had expressed reasons for why the program wasn't in their first tier of schools being considered.
Griffen initially told us early in the spring that despite the fact that he was cousins with current ASU running back Keegan Herring, the Sun Devils had not recruited him nearly as hard as in-state rival Arizona, to that point.
