Ready or not, Adams in Purdue's lineup
Finally one summer night, weeks before the start of training camp, Royce Adams had to be asked to leave.
At 10 o'clock, the final few staffers left in the football office were ready to close up and head home for the night. Everyone, that is, except from Adams, a freshman cornerback who had yet to set foot in a Boilermaker practice, let alone on the game field.
But there was Adams, putting in hour after hour of film study after finishing up his conditioning earlier in the afternoon.
"I was in there watching some film," Adams said after practice Tuesday, "just trying to stay ahead of the game.
"As a matter-of-fact, after I eat I'm probably going to watch some film on Ball State."
That's likely a good idea, considering Adams will make his first start Saturday against the Cardinals, replacing the injured Aaron Lane. The junior was lost for as many as eight weeks after breaking his shoulder against Miami (Ohio) last weekend.
