Thursday Night Football Notes
Tennessee has a chance to get back on track this week when the Vols welcome Marshall to town. Thursday's work on the practice field put a smile on Phillip Fulmer's face, and left the head coach feeling good about his team's attitude and level of preparation.
"We had one heck of a good practice today. I'm really pleased with what we got done. There were a few thing that upset me yesterday, but after watching the film last night, it was better than what I thought," Fulmer said.
One of the main focal points for the defense on Thursday, and all week for that matter, has been getting ready to face Marshall quarterback Bernard Morris and the option threat he gives the Thundering Herd offense.
Tennessee hasn't looked like a juggernaut on the ground to this point, and it's a safe bet that Marshall will look to see if the Vols have learned from their early mistakes in that department.
"They like to get the quarterback outside of the pocket where he's most dangerous. We expect them to run some option. If you have an option attack and you watched the Air Force film, you're probably going to run some option against us too," Jonathan Wade said of the challenge. We have to prepared to stop everything.
"I think we'll be better prepared, we learned a lot in the Air Force game. Everyone's option is different from what Air Force runs though."
