An insider's look at the Mizzou offense
Not to worry, Red Raider fans, Brad Smith is gone. The last time Texas Tech faced Missouri, Smith ran for a school-record five touchdowns in a 62-31 homecoming blowout. Gone is Smith, but in his place is a quarterback putting up some astronomical numbers of his own.
Less than halfway into his first season as a starter Chase Daniel is within five touchdown passes of the Missouri single-season record. Twice this year, including last week, Daniel has thrown four touchdowns or more in a single game. Prior to his arrival, that had been done just six times in school history.
Asked by an out of town reporter after the Colorado game if Daniel's performance was the norm, Gary Pinkel simply said, "He's a pretty good player isn't he?"
Unlike Smith seemed at times, though, Daniel is not a one-man show.
"He's got some good players around him too," Pinkel said. "He's got some guys catching footballs."
