Patrick takes over for Peterson
Adrian Peterson's absence is the main storyline following Oklahoma's 34-9 victory over Iowa State last weekend. But where the Sooners will turn to fill that void becomes a more pressing matter as OU's game with Colorado approaches.
The race to replace Adrian Peterson isn't over, but there does appear to be a favorite to take over Peterson's spot as the starting running back in the OU offense.
"We're gonna start with Allen Patrick and if there's a point where he needs a blow, we'll go with which guy we feel gives us the best chance and with what's working well," said offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson.
The only question now is how Patrick will fare as an every down back. Can he carry the load left behind by Peterson, or will the Sooners have to turn to Jacob Gutierrez or talented true freshman to fill a void?
"We've kind of got it as, 'Allen is the guy'," explained Wilson.
