Irish soak up emotions of senior day
NOTRE DAME, Ind.-Knute Rockne had his Win One for the Gipper speech against Army. Seventy-eight years later, Charlie Weis pulled out his green jerseys against the Cadets.
After an emotionless start to a spirited senior day, the No. 6-ranked Irish (10-1) spotted Army a three-point lead before scoring the next 41 points en route to a 41-9 victory, keeping their national championship dreams alive.
"More than liking these guys, which I really do, I'm really happy for them," said Weis of his seniors, who have experienced all the highs and lows of college football during their careers.
