Bowl Notebook: Freshmen breaking out
Bowl practice isn't just about tacking one more win onto the record. It's also about giving the young players on the team a crucial month of work that can help them improve for the future.
"I think some guys have gotten better and that's good for Alabama," said interim head coach Joe Kines. "You've still got young players improving and that can't be anything but a positive."
Kines named several freshmen that he felt have shown major improvements during bowl practice.
"Charlie Higgenbotham, linebacker wise has improved a lot. I see Milton Talbert getting better every day. He's such a delight to be around. He's a little bit like Wallace Gilberry in that he's just happy everyday. You don't have to take a stick and beat him to make him want to go to practice. He just jumps out there and goes."
