A&M and Cal have the qualities of a great match up
No. 21 Texas A&M is coming off its first win over archrival Texas in six years, and its first win over Texas in Austin since 1994. It's obvious to say that the Aggies are on a high as they head into their match up with No. 20 California at the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Thursday at 7 p.m. in San Diego.
The Bears (9-3), however, aren't on a high after squandering their season late with losses to Arizona and USC, and a narrow win over archrival Stanford. Heading into November, Cal was in a race for the PAC-10 title and an off-chance at a national title game berth.
Instead, Cal will have to settle for a trip to the Holiday Bowl to play A&M. These two teams are moving in opposite directions as the season came to and end, but the memory of laying an egg in 2004 in San Diego is still fresh on Cal's mind.
So it's doubtful that A&M will face an unenthused group of Bears Thursday.
Here is a breakdown comparing the Aggie and Bears.
