Tray Allen is ready to roll
Due to South Grand Prairie's unorthodox schedule, Tray Allen was not able to enroll at Texas in January, as were several other members of the Longhorns' 2007 recruiting haul. But Allen is gradually making his way into the Texas program, little by little.
The five-star lineman finished his high school classwork in late February, and he moved down to Austin a couple of weeks ago. He'll officially enroll at Texas for the first summer session in June, but he's already begun utilizing the workout program given to him by the Texas strength and conditioning staff.
"I'm living with a relative in Austin, working out and anticipating my summer so I can start making a name for myself," Allen said. "I have to work out by myself but I can use (Texas') facilities. We got the workout book and I've been following it for the past week or so."
Allen has actually been in Austin for the past few weeks, and he spent some time watching the Longhorns go through spring football drills. While on campus, he's spent some time talking to offensive line coach Mac McWhorter and the UT assistant told him to study up and get himself ready for what could be a chance for some early playing time.
"He just said to learn my information and be ready to play," Allen said. "He told me to focus on tackle but I don't know. He just gave me a playbook and told me to learn as much as I can."
