SC after Bama 'backer
Gadsden (Ala.) linebacker Jerrell Harris is being recruited by the entire Southeastern Conference, but his list of scholarship offers has reached beyond the borders of the Southern states.
At 6-foot-3, 220-pounds, Harris earned first-team all-state honors in 2006 with 125 tackles in 11 games.
Can any school lure Harris away from the Mason-Dixie line?
USC hopes so, as the Trojans joined the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Colorado Buffaloes as the only football programs outside of the South to offer Harris a scholarship.
"They (USC) talked to my coaches and got some film on me," said Harris. "After that I talked to Ken Norton Jr. last week and he said that he had an offer waiting for me at USC.
"That was a big shock right there. You don't find many kids from around here getting offers from USC."
