West looking foward to getting on the field
You can line him up at safety or you can line him up at cornerback. Anthony West doesn't care. He just wants to get on the field and play football.
"It really doesn't matter. DB is DB to me." West said after last Saturday's scrimmage. "I was getting used to safety, but corner's cool, too."
West, a 6-foot, 195-pound redshirt freshman from San Diego, started his Nebraska career last season at cornerback, but was moved to free safety at the start of spring drills. However, when a knee injury sidelined Zack Bowman less than two weeks into the spring season, West was asked to return to corner.
"It was kind of hard at first (when spring football started)," West said. "I had to learn a new position, but coach Elmo helped me pick it up pretty quick. Then Zack went down and that put me back at corner."
Now that he is back at his original spot, West said he has a better understanding of the two positions. He noted that the experience of playing both cornerback and safety has taught him that the positions aren't as different as most people perceive them to be.
