There are many things discussed about a football team as it goes through spring practices. Questions get answered and more questions arise. But once spring workouts conclude you're left to analyze what you've seen for the past month from now until August. So, what are the three things that concern this writer the most about this football team now that spring has concluded:

1. This could be a glaring weakness, especially when you look at the other team's strengths in the Big 12 South (Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M). The ability to stop the run up the middle. Those three Big 12 South schools are all going to have very good offensive lines with big running backs and in most cases fast running backs to go with it. This defensive line wasn't tested much this spring in that area but it appears to me that an offense that wants to run right at the Red Raiders will have some success, even with a healthy Richard Jones. Allen Patrick of Oklahoma, the duo of Javorski Lane and Michael Goodson at A&M and Jamaal Charles and whoever else they run at you from Texas are going to be difficult to stop for any defense but especially Tech. The defensive end play this spring was a pleasant surprise with the emergence of Sandy Riley and the steady play of Tyler Yenzer to go along with Jake Ratliff and Brandon Williams. But the overall lack of proven depth at the defensive tackle position is a concern. Ruffin McNeill will need his three signees (Bobby Agoucha, David Neill and Colby Whitlock) to be better than just okay and he'll need them to adjust and contribute quickly. Otherwise those rivals in the Big 12 South could have big days against Tech next fall. Rajon Henley is a star in the making but he's only one man.
