Longo loved trip to Columbia
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons defensive end Jeremy Longo turned in one of the most productive seasons of any defensive lineman in the Sunshine State last year, racking up 125 tackles, including 22 in one game, and eight sacks. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder made the trip from South Florida to attend South Carolina's Garnet & Black Spring Game over the weekend and loved what he found in Columbia.
"It was awesome," the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Longo said. "I loved everything about the visit."
Longo, who also has offers from schools like Iowa, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, UCF and UConn, offered walkthrough of the day.
"When we first got there, we met coach Robert Gillespie, and he's a great guy," Longo said. "I had talked to him a few times on the phone, but that was the first time I had met him in person. He took us on a tour of the stadium and the facilities and everything. A lot of the facilities are new, and the ones that aren't are going to be re-built pretty soon."
