A League of His Own
Even after all the offers - including one from Florida, his leader - and all the publicity and the ranking among the top 250 players in the 2008 class, Detroit (Mich.) Country Day running back Jonas Gray still feels compelled to prove himself. That's what makes him such a special prospect.
Gray was named the most valuable player at his position this weekend at the Nike Training Camp at Purdue University. The 5-foot-9, 206-pound prospect had a goal to get that MVP award. He accomplished it. Seems like anything Gray sets his mind to, it gets done.
Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Colorado, Penn State, Michigan and others are involved in his recruitment. Last season, he finished with 1,252 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. The Gators, Gray said, are out in front for his services.
