Special teams must stay strong
The addition of Tim Tibesar - the team's first full-time special teams coach in years - couldn't have proved to be more valuable for the 2006 Wildcats. The credit for such a drastic improvement on special teams is certainly due to more than one person, but Tibesar obviously made an immediate impact on a unit that had struggled in 2005.
Coach Ron Prince made it clear from the moment he arrived that he would dedicate a large amount of practice time to the often under-addressed aspect of the game - an attitude that was only a continuation of the tactics of former coach Bill Snyder. Prince's dedication to special teams, along with the eagerness of several of the team's stars to contribute, helped K-State make special teams one of its greatest strengths.
