Schmitt hammers Herd in Half 2
HUNTINGTON-Pretty little Darius Reynaud looked cute out there waving his arms around on those bubble screens, but when push came to shove Saturday at sun-bleached Joan Edwards Stadium, West Virginia put the hammer down on a wearying Marshall defense in a 48-23 scorcher over the Thundering Herd.
Rich Rodriguez, who said later that he should have worn his headsets through the visitors tunnel when his team trailed 13-6 at halftime ("Those fans would have peeled paint off the locker room walls."), decided to put the hammer down in the final 30 minutes here which equaled 42 points.
He "traded" Reynaud (who put up a personal best of 8 catches for 126 yards, 2 touchdowns and a long of 46) for Owen Schmitt and it was Rod ball the rest of the way.
