Billings the right man for the job
Wide receiver Rod Smith has started all eight of Auburn's games this year, leading the team with 33 receptions for 453 yards and four touchdowns.
But for most of the season, the Tigers have struggled to find much production out of the receiver position opposite Smith.
Senior Prechae Rodriguez began the season as the starter but was replaced by junior Robert Dunn after two games.
Two games later, it was Dunn that was replaced.
Sophomore Montez Billings started his first career game against Florida and has seen his production steadily increase over the past four weeks.
"It's a great opportunity for Montez Billings, and he's really taking advantage of it right now," said Smith.
Billings has been AU's leading receiver the last two games, hauling in five passes for 31 yards against Arkansas and six passes for 78 yards and his first career touchdown against LSU.
The development of Billings has been a big boost for AU's passing offense and quarterback Brandon Cox.
