Croom, players look to make most of off-week
Coming off their first win over a ranked opponent since 2004, Mississippi State will take a break this Saturday before resuming play against Alabama next week. For some, the break could not have come at a more in opportune time. With the Bulldogs playing perhaps their best football of the season, several players hinted that they wished they could push back this week's bye. But after the grind of eight straight Saturdays - nine weeks in all - most were ready for a bit of downtime.
"You can talk about momentum being an issue, and yeah, it would be nice to play back-to-back the way we have been playing, but I don't think it will effect us like that," said quarterback Wesley Carroll. "I think it's good that we have the off week. It gives us an extra week to just kind of relax and let everybody try and let their bodies heal."
Senior defensive end Avery Hannibal, who just earlier in the week was named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, sounded like one such player.
