A&M ends camp with scrimmage under the lights
COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M officially ended August camp Thursday night with a evening scrimmage at Kyle Field in front of a throng of Aggie fans in the first deck of the stands. The Aggies opened with the first eight minutes of a normal game, and then scrimmaged different situations over the next two-plus hours.
Now, the Aggies have an off day before getting into game week preparations for the season opener against Arkansas State at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30.
"I thought we got a lot of work done. We ended up getting 53 snaps with the one's, which was about eight more than I planned to get but I thought it went well," said A&M head coach Mike Sherman. "We made some mistakes and we learned from some of the mistakes we made, but we did some good things as well. I thought it was more of a consistent effort on both sides of the ball throughout the scrimmage.
"They did a nice job and blocked well up front as well. When the defense had to step up and make some plays there were some key plays there in the four-minute situation where they had to stop the offense and they did. There was good play on both sides."
