Freshman Sands turning heads at free safety

WVSports.com MORGANTOWN--For a true freshman making his first collegiate start, Robert Sands acquitted himself quite impressively in West Virginia's 27-3 victory over Marshall. The oversized free safety recorded four tackles and, more importantly, helped limit standout receiver Darius Passmore to his lowest output of the season. Still, Sands thinks a bigger test awaits this Saturday. "I think Rutgers will be the first team to actually challenge us deep," Sands said on Tuesday. "From what I hear from the upperclassmen, they have some really good receivers who go up and fight for the ball." Indeed, the Scarlet Knights' offense relies heavily on a passing game featuring a variety of threats.
