Video: Spartans react to big plays against Iowa
EAST LANSING - Several Spartan athletes made big plays during Michigan State's 16-13 homecoming victory over Iowa.
Junior linebacker Adam Decker made the player of the game with by dropping bruising Iowa running back Shonn Greene for a loss on fourth down and a foot. And Decker received more media attention during postgame interviews than he has following any other game in 2008.
But Decker was quick to point out that his clutch tackle would not have been possible without Michigan State defensive linemen executing their assignments to perfection.
"Everybody up front, all of the other linebackers did their job," explained Decker. "I was free and somebody has to make play. I was happy I could make a play to get the win."
Decker's tackle was one of just a handful where a Spartan defender was able to tackle Greene on first contact.
"I was definitely trying to get my hat into a little bit," said Decker. "He was hard to wrap up all day. He is wide and he is strong. He definitely broke his fair share of tackles. He is a good back."
